"Thoughtogram is basically exactly what I always needed and didn't have! I now have all my regular websites as soon as I open my browser, making it immediately faster to manage my day. Thank you Thoughtogram."

An indie project

I started building Thoughtogram because I wanted a better way to use my new tab. After more than a year of refining it, I use it daily for research, planning, and capturing things I read on the web.

It's a small indie project, built by one developer in the UK. If it works for you, subscribing keeps the development going and helps make it sustainable.

Simple & Transparent

Start with 5 boards free - no sign-up needed, just install. Create a free account to double that to 10 boards, keep them safely tied to your account, and capture from your phone. Need more room? Subscribe for $5/month and build unlimited boards.

+ Add to Chrome It's Free!

Nothing is ever deleted if you stop paying - boards over your limit simply become read-only. Subscribers help fund a small, sustainable indie product. Thank you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data private?
Yes. Your boards are private to your account. All traffic is encrypted in transit over HTTPS, and your data is protected with server-side encryption on our servers. You can export everything to Markdown whenever you like.
What happens if I uninstall the extension?
Your account and data stay safe on our servers. Reinstall any time and your boards come back. You can also export everything to Markdown before uninstalling if you want a local copy.
What if I cancel my subscription?
Nothing is deleted. Your account moves to the free tier's 10-board allowance: your earliest 10 boards stay fully editable, and any boards beyond that become read-only - you can still open and export them, and they unlock the moment you resubscribe.
Can I use Thoughtogram on my phone?
Yes. There's a Quick Capture mobile app that lets you send notes and clippings to any board. A linear column view also lets you read and reorder your cards on mobile.
How is this different from Notion, Obsidian, Heptabase, or Scrintal?
Notion and Obsidian are powerful but ask you to organize notes into hierarchies and databases. Heptabase and Scrintal are closer cousins - both visual canvas tools for thinking. Thoughtogram differs in three practical ways: it lives in your new tab (zero friction to open, every time you open the browser), the board is deliberately fixed-size so you can see everything at once instead of scrolling an infinite canvas, and it's $5/month rather than the $10-$15 those apps typically charge. Many people use Thoughtogram alongside a traditional notes app: Thoughtogram for active thinking and visual organization, the other tool for long archives.
Why a fixed-size board?
Infinite canvases let you keep adding without ever seeing what you already have. A fixed board forces you to choose what's on it - and means you can take in everything at a glance. Like a desk, not a warehouse.
