Nostalgia for the Old Games
I fondly remember playing on my ZX Spectrum in the 80s. The games were primative by todays standards but many were great fun. Years later I still like to play games sometimes and it is actually some of the old retro games that still seem the best
The Chuckie Egg Example
Chuckie Egg was a classic single screen game. No scrolling. Everything o could be seen on the screen. This allowed to for tactical planning with a proper overview. Years later people made updated versions with larger playinga reas and characters. Scrolling was needed to see the full level. It was much more technically impressive but nowhere need as fun or compelling as the original. I realized that scrolling is not always an improvement.
Appling The Principle to Thoughtogram
I took this lesson to heart when I designed Thoughtogram my fixed board, no scroll, no zoom whiteboard app.
The Games Arcade
Thoughtogram is a productivity app but it is healthy to relax and play a game sometimes. So I have included a retro games arcade in the Extras Section of the Thoghtogram Members area. I have created about 14 retro games many paying tribute to some of the old classics but with a twist. Every game is in the single screen format in the spirit of the fixed board design principle. I hope you enjoy. More to come
